Vacancies

PME is always looking for potential staff who want to achieve top-quality results and who are ready to challenge others within their team. Although we focus on mechanical engineering of small structures and high precision, our application spectrum, on the other hand, is wide and deep. Most projects (approx. 80% of the current 60 projects) are done in collaboration with industry. This does not only mean your results will be used by society in the future, it also means you will need to develop a network within the industry as well as within the academic world. On top of that, you will have to be able to teach about it as well.

Do you feel up for this challenge. In that case you are welcomed to send in an application, even when no specific vacancies are listed on this site. This is especially the case for PhD and PostDoc candidates.

Current vacancies in the PME research groups:

  • Phd Position In Integrated Structure And Control Optimization
The vacant position is in the Structural Optimisation and Mechanics (SOM) research group

Current practice in the design of high-tech motion platforms is that structural and control optimization are preformed separately and sequentially. This traditional discipline-oriented approach leads to suboptimal designs. This project aims to integrate the two design problems into a single multi-disciplinary system optimization to reach maximum performance. For the structural design, topology optimization will be employed, taking into account the requirements for additive manufacturing. Do you have a MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering showing academic excellence, with specialization focused on either: - Computational mechanics/finite element programming, - Control and system optimization, - Gradient-based design optimization or topology optimization. and experience with multiple of these topics is a strong plus.
