DIPO welcomes Mona Hichert
As of 20110801 Mona Hichert has joined the Delft Institute of Porsthetics and Orthotics as a PhD-student. Mona holds a MSc-degree in Mechanical Engineering from Delft University of Technology, Delft, Netherlands. Mona will devote her research efforts to fundamentally understand body-powered prosthesis control, and to identify the force and excursion levels that optimally match the proprioceptive capabilities of the prosthetic user.
Fonds NutsOhra funds PhD-project
We are proud to announce that Fonds NutsOhra has awarded a grant for the PhD-project 'Design of a Physiological Control System for Hand Prostheses'. The project aims to collect a fundamental understanding of body-powered prosthesis control, and to identify the force and excursion levels that optimally match the proprioceptive capabilities of the prosthetic user. Subsequently, a new control system will be designed, developed, and clinically tested.
Dutch Biomedical Engineering Conference
On Januari 22 and 23 the second Dutch Biomedical Engineering Conference was held in Egmond aan Zee. DIPO was represented by Gerwin Smit and Dick H. Plettenburg with a poster presentation on Voluntary Closing Hand Prostheses.

Hand Prostheses on Dutch Television
On Tuesday, December 16, 2008 the issue of 'Het Klokhuis' was devoted to hand prostheses for children. Some of the prostheses shown originate from DIPO research.

DIPO welcomes Gerwin Smit
As of 20081001 Gerwin Smit has joined the Delft Institute of Porsthetics and Orthotics as a PhD-student. Gewrin holds a BSc-degree in Mechanical Engineering and Medical Physics form Northern University of Professional Education, Leeuwarden, Netherlands, and a MSc-degree in Biomedical Engineering from University of Twente, Enschede, Netherlands. Gerwin will devote his research efforts to the development of voluntary closing hand prostheses.
DIPO Web-site life!
The web-site of the Delft Institute of Prosthetics and Orthotics is life again [20080911]. The shut down of an old server terminated the WILMER web-site. We are happy to announce the completely renewed web-site on our prosthetic and orthotic research efforts and products.
5th Regional Central European ISPO Conference
On September 19 - 21, 2008 the 5th Regional Central European ISPO Conference was held in Portoroz, Slovenia. On invitation, Dick H. Plettenburg presented on the WILMER Shoulder and Elbow Orthoses and on the WILMER Passive Hand Prosthesis for Toddlers.

During August 10 - 15, 2008 the Myo-Electric Control Symposium took place in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. DIPO was presented by Dick H. Plettenburg with presentations on the WILMER 2DOF Wrsit Prosthesis and on the WILMER Passive Hand Prosthesis for Toddlers.
