Research PME
The Department of Precision and Microsystems Engineering has organised itself into four research sections.
Structural Optimization Mechanics (SOM)
Mechatronic System Design (MSD)
Micro and Nano Engineering (MNE)
Within our four sections we cover mechanical engineering disciplines such as statics, dynamics, basic manufacturing and design techniques, but also advanced numerical analysis methods, material characterisation and system (mechatronic) design. Within these sections each of the research groups focuses on different aspect of the precision and microsystem world.
The application spectrum of our research is very broad, though highly specialised. We operate on fields such as chip manufacturing, automotive, aerospace or biomechanics, smart microsystems and production/assembly techniques. We develop conceptual devices that can be used for the experimental validation and work with advanced mathematical simulation of mechanics and dynamics.
